1. Gap of Dunloe Tour starts from Kate Kearney’s Cottage in Beaufort from where you can take a jaunting car ride passing through the Gap of Dunloe. On the trip through the pass view the unique mountain scape and the Lakes of Killarney. The lakes are connected by the River Loe and between the first two lakes is an old arch bridge called the ‘Wishing Bridge’ so named because it is said that wishes made while upon it are destined to come true. Once through the Gap, Guests can take a boat trip across the Lakes of Killarney to the historic Ross Castle where you can journey back to Killarney town or Muckross with a Jaunting Car again
2. Muckross House and Gardens are located close to Muckross Park Hotel in Killarney National Park. The House is run by Muckross House Trust and dates from 1843. The house has been an integral part of Killarney and occupies a very special location on the Lake shore. Guests can make the short journey to Muckross House by foot, jaunting car or bicycle and experience the history and traditions of this famous house. Learn about Queen Victoria’s visit here in 1861, the history of the Bourn Vincent Family and the development of the Muckross area.
Muckross House also has some of Co. Kerry’s most beautiful gardens including a Rock Garden, Stream Garden and Sunken Garden. Stroll through the gardens and enjoy the pathways and trees dating back to the 19th century.
Muckross House also has Mucros Weavers and Pottery on show and a very nice craft shop.
