Absolutely 5 STAR *****We are delighted to announce that we have recently been awarded
official five star accreditation.
To celebrate this award the hotel was honoured to have the Minister for Arts, Sports & Tourism
Mr John O'Donoghue TD attend as guest of honour of the celebration. Special guest and international star of stage, TV and film
Ms Joanna Lumley joined the Minister at the ceremony, (both photographed left).
Minister Mr John O'Donoghue TD congratulated owners Jackie Lavin and Bill Cullen on the award. He reflected that there were only 22 five star hotels in Ireland and the
Muckross Park Hotel brings this number to 23. Killarney celebrated 250 years of tourism in 2005 during which the town has been a leader of the industry not only because of its scenic beauty and the hospitality of its people, but also because of a spirit of entrepreneurship which has seen continuous investment and product innovation such as the Muckross Park Hotel and the
Cloisters Spa.
Managing Director, John Keating, stated that "Killarney continues to be a beacon for Regional Tourism and developments such as the Muckross Park Hotel & Cloisters Spa continue to bring both international and domestic tourism to the region. The latest phase of development has also resulted in the creation of more than 100 full and part time jobs."
Jackie Lavin and Bill Cullen celebrated their achievement with a host of guests from the political, business and social community including Norma Smurfit, Clodagh Hopkins Keane, Orla de Bri and Senator Paul Coughlan amongst others.
